Source: A bicyclist was struck and killed Monday night by a minivan on Southeast 183rd Avenue Road. The man killed in the crash was Andy Johnson, 43, of Silver Springs, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the accident was reported at 8:51 p.m. in the 2600 block of the two-lane road, just less than a mile south of East Road 40. The man on the bike was in the center of the dark, unlit roadway, according to FHP. He was wearing dark clothes, and the bicycle did not have lights, only front and back reflectors. Johnson has carrying a plastic bag containing cans of Keystone Light beer. He was traveling southbound. The minivan, a Toyota Sienna, was going the same direction. The driver - David Olson, 87, of Ocklawaha - swerved to the left, trying to avoid the collision, troopers said. The front passenger side of the Toyota hit the back of the bicycle. The bicyclist was thrown from the bike onto the windshield and then fell onto the left shoulder of the road. The Toyota stopped roughly 200 feet down the road. Another motorist who was traveling the other direction had seen the bicyclist in the middle of the road.
