Source: A bicyclist struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night has been identified as Brian Winfrey, 47, of Laguna Hills, authorities said. Winfrey was riding along the right shoulder of Euclid Street near Wakefield Avenue when he was struck by a white Honda CRV traveling south on Euclid shortly before 7 p.m., Garden Grove traffic investigator Jason Perkins said. Winfrey was wearing a yellow reflective vest, Perkins said. Winfrey was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. He was pronounced dead about an hour later, the Orange County Coroner's Office said. The 48-year-old female driver of the CRV remained at the scene, police said. No arrests or citations have been reported. Traffic investigators are looking into the cause of the crash. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have played a factor in the crash. Northbound Euclid was closed from Orangewood to Katella avenues as investigators went over the scene, police said. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call Perkins at 714-741-5823.

Brian was a loyal and generous friend and will be missed. He was an intelligent computer programmer.

Brian also was very much safety oriented and went out of his way to mention the importance of bicycle safety (lights, high visability clothing, etc.)

Although it is unknown how the motorist struck and killed Brian, he was doing everything right and should have been visible to any driver paying proper attention (not texting, taling on the phone, or other distractions)

Brian was a great friend and will forever be missed.

Brian was an old friend of mine. I didn’t see him alot lately but we used to be very close. I will miss him, as will many of his old friends that he used hang out with.. you know who you are! We would like very much to attend any memorial service that is being held for him, we don’t know when or where it is, but we’d like to. That’s How I found this site, I was hoping to find some sort of Obituary to tell us all how to come remember our old friend Brian. Please send me an e-mail if you .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Brian was a very special friend. We nerded out, ate, drank, smoked, golfed, argued, worked, high-fived, Datona 500’d, Golden Tee’d, etc and I will greatly miss his dry honest humor and genuine smile when you earned it…. Peace, Brian. I will remember you forever.

I worked with Brian for many years.  He was a a great friend and I am deeply saddened by his loss. His always gave me motivation and a different perspective that I enjoyed.  I will miss him greatly.

I had the opportunity to know and work with Brian as others have. It’s been a while, but I remember a man with a great sense of humor. Didn’t know he was a cyclist. Being one myself, I will continue to remember the risks involved and the friends and strangers lost while out riding. Sad he has passed. I wish his family well.
