Source: A Lubbock man faces manslaughter charges in the death of a bicyclist early Saturday morning. Benito Capillan, 23, drove a 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 in the 3600 block of Fourth Street when he rammed a bicycle ridden by Britta Silvia Schneider, 32, according to a report from Lubbock police Sgt. Robert Hook. The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. Capillan approached Schneider’s bicycle from behind, and he failed to control the vehicle’s speed, striking the two-wheeler from behind, throwing Schneider to the opposite lane, Hook reported. The bicycle caught onto the undercarriage of the pickup truck, which dragged it about 150 yards, the report states. EMS transported Schneider to the University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead a short time after, said Lubbock police Sgt. Jonathan Stewart. Hook’s report stated Capillan was arrested and charged with intoxicated manslaughter. The report lists the incident as being alcohol-related. However, the report does not give a blood alcohol level. Capillan was booked into Lubbock County Detention Center and was released Sunday around 1:20 a.m., but no bail information was available.

Please correct the name. It was our beautiful Britta Silvia Schneider, a student of texas tech university and Humboldt Univerity in Berlin. She was living in Berlin / Germany.

There almost all students ride bicycles. It´s safe in Berlin to move this way and cheeper than by car or bus.

It´s good that you fight for the rights of bicyclist. Britta was also a fighter. She made the world a little better.
I´m a very near friend of her, it´s unbelievable and I miss her so much.

I hope there will be soon more lanes for bicyclists, so that they can ride and stay alive.
Britta was a wonderful person who wanted to make the world a bit better. We miss her so much.
