Source: Phoenix police said an 11-year-old girl who was hit by two cars while riding her bike with her father on Halloween has died. Police said Bu Meh was riding her bicycle northbound across Indian School Road in a marked crosswalk just east of 20th Avenue when she was hit Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses told police that the girl and her father had made it across eastbound Indian School Road to the median in the street. Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said Bu rode ahead of her father and out into the roadway from the median without waiting for traffic to stop and collided with a westbound vehicle. The girl and her bike continued into the curb lane and was struck by another car. Bu was transported to a local hospital where she died Friday afternoon. Crump said the girl was not wearing any protective equipment. Police said the crosswalk does not have a stoplight, but it does have plenty of signs warning drivers to look out for pedestrians. The drivers of the vehicles involved were uninjured. Both drivers were evaluated by detectives and no impairment was found. No citations have been issued and the investigation is ongoing.
