Source: Police have identified the bicyclist who died yesterday on Park Avenue when a bicycle and car collided as Carl Rasmussen, 48, of Worcester. The accident occurred about 1:30 p.m. yesterday near 585 Park Ave. Police were called for a report of an accident involving a car and a bicycle. Mr. Rasmussen suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. He was later pronounced dead. “The preliminary investigation indicates that the operator of the motor vehicle was traveling northbound on Park Avenue when the bicyclist crossed in front of the motor vehicle (from the east to the west),” police said in a news release. “The operator of the motor vehicle swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the collision. “ The driver of the car, an Auburn man, stopped and the people inside the car helped Mr. Rasmussen, police said. The department’s accident reconstruction team continues to investigate. No citations have been issued.
