Source: An 11-year-old boy died Monday, five days after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle a block away from his Northwest Side home. Christopher Fonseca, of the 1900 block of North Lawndale Avenue, was riding his bicycle when a vehicle struck him in the 1900 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. He was hit by a vehicle at 12:01 p.m. on June 20, and initially taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said. The driver remained at the scene. The 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:23 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. Police could not immediately say if charges or citations were filed in connection with the collision.
