Source: A 19-year-old Grand Rapids resident died two weeks after his bicycle collided with a van. Witnesses said a northbound van entered the intersection of Madison Avenue and Delaware Street SE at the same time as a westbound bicyclist around 1:13 p.m. July 7. The bicycle struck the right, rear corner of the vehicle, and the van's trailer hit the rider, police said. The bicyclist -- Dajawn Marquel Jones 19 from Grand Rapids -- was transported to Saint Mary's Health Care after suffering life-threatening injuries. He died July 21 as a result of those injuries. Alcohol and speed are not factors in the incident, police said. The Grand Rapids Police Department Special Services Unit continues to investigate this accident.
