Source: The Sacramento County Coroner's office has released the name of a man run over on Watt Avenue on Wednesday. Coroner's deputies identified him as Dennis Wanstreet, 63, of North Highlands. His cause of death was listed as undetermined. The California Highway Patrol said that Wanstreet was lying on the pavement in the northbound inside lane of Watt Avenue just north of Plymouth Drive about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday when he was stuck by an oncoming car. He died at the scene. A bicycle was located at the scene. An earlier report from the CHP said Wanstreet died after being hit by a car after he fell from the bicycle. However, a later press release said although a bicycle was found at the scene, it has not been determined if Wanstreet had been riding the bike prior to the accident.

I was notified of Dennis’ death in person today by his longtime companion Becky. I run a storage facility in Rio Linda, CA where Dennis has been a tenant for over 5 years. While the vast percentage of our conversation was related to the identification and whereabouts of his heirs, she did state that Dennis HAD been riding the bike found at the scene.
Dennis was a very nice man who had recently recovered from a serious illness and we here at A-1 Storage wish to extend our condolences to his family and pray that God give them strength to deal with their loss. Dennis will be fondly remembered.
