Source: Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard’s office says deputies are investigating a Dallas Center bicyclist who was hit and killed along 270th Street on Saturday night. A one-paragraph news release issued late Sunday says the body of 67-year-old Edward Giedraitis was discovered Sunday morning and pronounced dead on the scene. Dallas County authorities say Giedraitis was killed “sometime after 10 p.m.” Saturday. The news release promises that “more information will follow in the next day or so.” Follow Up Source: Charges have been filed in the hit-and-run death of a Dallas Center man who was riding his bicycle. Sixty-seven-year-old Edward Giedraitis was hit and killed while riding his bike on 270th Street near Dallas Center on May 19th. Friday, 31-year-old Troy Wanninger was charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He also faces several misdemeanor charges including failure to have a valid driver’s license, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wanninger appeared in Dallas County court Friday morning and was booked into the Dallas County Jail. He has since posted bond and been released.
