Source: A 52-year-old Medford woman died Saturday in Bellport after a car struck her while she was riding a bicycle, Suffolk County police said. Police said Felicia Ruperto was riding her bicycle southbound on Station Road at 7:42 a.m. when she was struck by a 2003 Dodge Caravan being driven by a 23-year-old Queens resident. Police said the impact from the crash caused Ruperto to be ejected from the bike. She landed on the front lawn of a Station Road house, police said. A physician assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced Ruperto dead at the scene, police said. The driver was not injured. Det. Sgt. Timothy Gozaloff of the Fifth Squad said it’s still unclear how the accident occurred, but he noted that the roadway where Ruperto was struck is a little bit narrower than the rest of the road. He said it doesn’t appear that the driver veered into the shoulder, and it doesn’t look like Ruperto drove into the roadway. Police said the crash is still under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
