Source: A bicyclist died Sunday night shortly after being struck in a traffic collision, and sheriff's officials said alcohol may have been a factor. Harold Blahut, 62, was bicycling west on Sultana Street, crossing Hickory Avenue, when he was struck by a Volkswagen Passat at 8:33 p.m., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The Volkswagen’s driver, Carlena Sanchez, 34, reportedly struck Blahut in the south traffic lane of Hickory Avenue. Blahut was taken to Desert Valley Hospital, where he died a short time later. The sheriff department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision.
