Source Harry Delmolino, the 18-year-old cyclist from Hadley who was struck by a car in Northampton Saturday evening, has died from his injuries, according to Northwestern District Attorney David E. Sullivan. Delmolino collided with a car at the intersection of Main and Pleasant streets at about 7:11 p.m. Saturday. He had remained in critical condition at Baystate Medical Center until his death Tuesday afternoon at the Springfield hospital, authorities said. "We send our deepest condolences to the Delmolino family as they grieve the tragic loss of their loved one," Sullivan said in a statement issued late Wednesday morning. Police said Delmolino was not wearing a helmet as he rode his bicycle east on Main Street and reached the intersection of Pleasant Street. Celso Avelar, 43, of Northampton, was driving a sedan when he turned left onto Pleasant Street from Main Street and collided with Delmolino, police said. Northampton police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and troopers assigned to Sullivan's office are handling the probe, which has yet to produce any charges against Avelar. Multiple witnesses have provided statements to city police about the crash, which remains under investigation. "We are conducting a collaborative and comprehensive investigation with our law enforcement partners," Sullivan said. "We will wait for all relevant information to be gathered and evaluated before drawing any conclusions about the nature and cause of the collision." Northampton police and firefighters were first to respond to the crash scene, which is among the city's busiest intersections. Funeral arrangements for Delmolino are being handled by the Kostanski Funeral Home in Greenfield. Updated Source: Prosecutors have decided not to pursue charges against a driver involved in a fatal collision with a teenage bicyclist in Northampton in May. The Northwestern district attorney's office announced Tuesday that the death of 18-year-old Harry Delmolino was "an unfortunate accident that did not involve criminal negligence." The Daily Hampshire Gazette (http://bit.ly/TCguJh ) reports that Delmolino involved in a collision May 19 with a vehicle driven by 43-year-old city man. Delmolino, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital where he died three days later. Delmolino was an Eagle Scout, earned an associate's degree in computer science from Greenfield Community College at age 17, worked for the information technology department at Smith College and was a mechanic at an Amherst bicycle shop.
