Source: A bicyclist who was struck by a car last week has died from his injuries. Ilya Gilevich, 79, of North Highlands was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Sunday from injuries suffered in a collision with a car on Elverta Road. The California Highway Patrol reported that at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday a Plumas Lake woman was driving westbound on Elverta Road at 16th Street. Gilevich was riding a bicycle northbound on 16th Street. The CHP said in a press release that Gilevich failed to yield the right-of-way as he approached the intersection and began to ride directly in front of the woman's car. He was hit by the car and thrown from his bike. Gilevich, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to the hospital.
