Source: The bicyclist involved in the accident earlier today has died. According to East Haven Police Sgt. David Emerman, at about 11:49 a.m., officers responded to a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of Ocean Port Market, at 50 Coe Avenue. "Initial investigation indicates that a Toyota Sienna minivan traveling southbound on Coe Avenue collided with a bicyclist," Emerman stated in a press release this afternoon. "The Toyota minivan then collided with a telephone pole and rolled onto its side." The bicyclist was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital and was later pronounced dead. Emerman said the name is being withheld until notifications are made. The three passengers from the minivan were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital and St. Raphael’s Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Emerman aded that Coe Avenue will remain closed between Dewey Avenue and Cold Spring Avenue, as well as the intersection of Coe Avenue and Soundview Avenue, for investigation and utility repair. "East Haven Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction team has been sent to the scene and their investigation is ongoing," Emerman stated.
