Source: A bicyclist was struck and killed Thursday morning in the 16000 block of Mount Hunger Road in rural Sycamore. DeKalb County Sheriff’s officials said John M. McGrath, 38, of Sycamore, was riding his bicycle westbound on Mount Hunger Road to work at a Sycamore business when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Kerry B. Cook, 50, of Sycamore. The accident occurred before sunrise, about 6:30 a.m., when Cook reportedly crossed the centerline to pass another eastbound vehicle and struck McGrath, a police report said. McGrath’s bicycle had reflectors but no lights. McGrath was pronounced dead at the scene. Cook, who was not injured, was cited for improper overtaking on the left.
