Source: A 28-year-old Shoreview man is dead after being struck by a car while on his bicycle Wednesday evening, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. At 10 p.m. on the day of the incident, deputies responded to the vehicle accident involving a bicyclist at Highway 96 and Village Center Drive in Shoreview. Upon arrival, the deputies found the bicyclist unconscious, but breathing. The man was treated by paramedics and transported by Allina Medical to Regions Hospital. He died from his injuries later at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. He has been identified as Joseph Hunt. The collision happened in the eastbound lanes of Highway 96, just east of Hodgson Road and near the Village Center Drive intersection. The driver of the car, identified as 67-year-old Bruce Akerman of North Oaks, immediately called 911 and cooperated fully with authorities. The accident is being investigated.
