Source: BRONSON, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a 12-year-old north Florida boy died after being hit by a car while riding his bicycle. Troopers announced Tuesday that the boy had died following the Sunday afternoon crash in Bronson. FHP says Keanu Becker was not wearing a helmet when he was thrown from his bike after being struck by a Honda SUV driven by 20-year-old Elizabeth Tyler. The Gainesville Sun reports Tyler told troopers she had passed two other people on bikes and the glare from the setting sun was in her eyes when she hit the boy. Troopers say the boy was taken to Shands at the University of Florida, where he later died.
