Source: A 53-year-old Dexter Township woman was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident Tuesday evening on North Territorial Road at Dexter-Pinckney Road in Dexter. She was bicycling and stopped to rest in a ditch on the northwest corner of the road intersection at about 6:04 p.m. After resting, she re-entered the roadway against traffic and was hit by a Chelsea man driving a 2002 Mercury Sable westbound on Territorial, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. AnnArbor.com is reporting the woman is Mary Burrows, 53, of Pinckney. Dexter Area Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance personnel were dispatched and they pronounced the Dexter bicyclist dead at the scene. The accident is being investigated by the sheriff's office. Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors of the collision, according to the sheriff's office. The bicyclist was wearing her helmet. The sheriff's office posted a notification of the accident on Nixle at about 8:40 a.m. Wednesday. An advisory was posted at about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday following the accident, advising residents to avoid the Territorial and Dexter-Pinckney intersection. The intersection was closed for several hours and traffic was detoured.
