Source: A St. Petersburg man is dead after he collided with a vehicle while riding a bicycle this afternoon on Gandy Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said. According to a report, about 2:41 p.m., Patrick Joseph Acquin, 61, was riding a bike on the outside shoulder of Gandy approaching the Interstate 275 exit ramp when he traveled into the painted area that separates the southbound I-275 exit ramp and the westbound lanes of Gandy. Acquin failed to yield the right of way by riding across the exit ramp lane and into the path of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler driven by Anthony Thomas Grieco, 27, of Plant City, FHP said. Acquin collided with the left front portion of the Jeep, suffering fatal injuries, FHP said. He was declared dead at the scene. Grieco and his passenger were not hurt, FHP said.
