Source: A Muncie man died early Sunday morning after riding his bicycle in front of an oncoming train. Phillip Dwain Howell, 47, South Elm Street, was crossing the tracks on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard late Saturday night when he was struck by the train, according to Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn. Howell was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma just after midnight. Howell was wearing earphones and had gone around the crossing arm blocking the tracks as the train approached, Hahn said, citing video from the train and eyewitness accounts.
