Source: Police are investigating of a fatal hit-and-run on the West Bank. A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The male victim was struck near the intersection of.General DeGaulle and Sandra drives. Raymond Haywood, a 58-year-old man, was killed in the the incident which occurred at approximately 5:50 a.m. He was on a bicycle on Sandra Drive and attempting to cross General DeGaulle Drive when he was struck by the driver of an unknown type vehicle that fled the scene, according to police. The cyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. A 58-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Algiers early Thursday morning, the New Orleans Police Department said. Raymond Haywood was riding a bicycle on Sandra Drive around 5:50 a.m. when he attempted to cross the road near the intersection of General De Gaulle Drive and was hit by an oncoming vehicle, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish coroner's office, John Gagliano, said.
