Source: A 66-year-old Blackwell man who was riding a bicycle is dead after another man in a pickup struck him from behind, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The crash happened just after noon on Thursday in Kay County. The two men were eastbound in a fairly rural area just outside the Ponca City city limits, on two-lane Hubbard Road, a half-mile west of North Pecan Road. A 2012 GMC pickup, driven by James T. Tauscher, 25, of Ponca City, came up behind Roy Leon Davis, who was on a bicycle. Tauscher attempted to pass Davis, but as he did, he struck the rear of the bike, an OHP report says. Davis was thrown from the bicycle and pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is listed as "improper passing" on the investigating trooper's report.
