Source: A Coffee County father riding his bicycle with his wife and three children was struck by a vehicle and killed Wednesday evening in Manchester. The accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on Oak Hill Road, less than a half-mile from the family's home. Authorities told Nashville's News 2 there is no shoulder on the roadway and the driver of a KIA Sedona minivan had limited vision due to the sun. An area pastor and longtime family friend called the accident "innocent." "All of a sudden, a lady, very innocent, she just came over the hill up here on the road, when she did see they were in the road, on the bicycles, before she could get stopped she hit them," Albert Smith explained. Forty-year-old Stacey Floyd was struck from behind and died at the scene. His wife, 35-year-old Amy Floyd, and the couple's 10-year-old daughter were also hit and transported to an area hospital with bruises and broken bones. The driver of the minivan, Sheryl Marsee, is a registered nurse and reportedly tried to save Floyd at the scene but he could not be revived. The Floyd's youngest two children, six-year-old Michael and four-year-old Ava, were not hit and uninjured. Smith told Nashville's News 2 Floyd's daughter Faith was treated and released from the hospital Wednesday night and the family was hopeful his wife would be released later on Thursday or Friday morning. In the meantime, the children are in the care of their maternal grandmother who traveled to Tennessee from Illinois following the accident. Smith said the family is trying to come to terms with what happened. "They're just all in a state of shock like, ‘Did this really happen?'" he said, adding, "[They are] having to face reality and it's been tough." Pastor Smith said Floyd died doing protecting his family, what he did best. "He was in the back and the rest of them were in front of him and the van hit him first and the little boy said, ‘My daddy saved my life,'" Smith said. Floyd is also survived by an older daughter who lives in Kentucky. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said charges against Marsee weren't expected. Manchester is located about 60 miles southeast of Nashville
